Why is every figure shown twice?
The large figure is rounded so you can hold it in your head; the exact one beneath is the one to check. Rounding is only allowed because the precise figure sits right under it.
The main money figures appear as a pair: a short, rounded form in large type, and the exact amount just beneath. The short form — ₹8.45Cr, $1.24M — is what you can remember and say out loud. The exact form — ₹8,44,77,725 — is what you check against everything else. Nivritee rounds a headline only because the precise figure is directly under it.
Where you see the pair
- The projected savings on Your financial freedom outcome and on the Retirement Tracker.
- The two money tiles among the four numbers: Savings when you stop earning and savings at the end age.
- The headline of each money card: What you earn, What you spend and What you owe.
- Today’s figure in Your savings, now and projected.
A rate or an age has no longer form, so the withdrawal rate and Does it run out? show one figure. Inside a sentence — such as If this happened under the stress tests — only the short form is used, because an eleven-digit difference is not readable as a quantity; the exact figures for every year are in the ledger.
How the short form is written
| Plan currency | Steps | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Rupees and other currencies counted in lakh and crore | L (lakh, 1,00,000) · Cr (crore, 1,00,00,000) — no thousands step | ₹65.38L · ₹8.45Cr |
| Every other currency | K (thousand) · M (million) · B (billion) | $37.4K · $1.24M |
The exact line is grouped the way your plan’s currency groups — ₹8,44,77,725 for rupees, $1,240,000 for dollars — and set with equal-width digits so columns line up. The large figure is not, because equal-width digits make a number full of 1s look loose at that size.

Workable Lasts, with a modest cushion
₹8.45Cr at 55 — worth about ₹4.34Cr in today's money. It funds the plan to 90 and leaves ₹21.63Cr — enough to absorb something small going wrong, not something large.
An illustrative household. The sentence is computed from the plan’s own ledger, not written.
