How do the ladder sliders work?

Three sliders set months of essential spending, years of runway and how much is held in growth assets. Figures update as you move them, and the position saves once you stop.

Each targeted rung has one slider on its card. Move it and the figures follow within a moment; stop moving it and the position is saved as yours. The sliders change the ladder only — your plan’s figures, verdict and other readings stay as they are.

Using them

  1. Open Freedom Ladder and scroll to the rung card you want to change.
  2. Drag the slider, or focus it and use the arrow keys.
  3. Read the line under it: At this setting the rung needs a figure, with an up or down arrow and the amount it moved.
  4. Look at the readout under the bar. Each rung whose target moved shows target up or target down with the amount.
  5. Stop. After a short pause the position is saved, and suggested disappears beside that value.

What each one changes

  • The first two change targets. Because the ladder’s top is fixed at your FI number, whatever Survival or Sustenance gains, Sufficiency loses.
  • The mix changes the expected return and spread used for Where this goes and the Sufficiency status. It does not change any target.

See this in your own plan.
