How do I enter an inheritance or other money coming in?
Under Life goals → Money coming in, add each one-off amount you expect: what it is, its kind, its value today and when it arrives. It joins your savings in that year.
Add it under Life goals → Money coming in. It is for one-off amounts you expect later — an inheritance, a payout, a sale. Each is entered at today’s value and arrives in the year you choose.
- Press + Add money coming in.
- Under What is it?, describe it.
- Choose its Kind: An inheritance, A gratuity or end-of-service payout, Selling shares or a business, An insurance policy maturing, Selling a property not listed under Investments, or Something else.
- Enter the Amount, at today’s value.
- Choose When it arrives: When I stop working, At an age of mine, When I move if you are moving, or an age of your partner’s if you have one.
- Under Its value, choose Grows with prices or A fixed amount.

Money coming in
+ Add money coming inMoney coming in sits below the goals it offsets on the Life goals page.
- What is it? and Kind.
- Amount, at today’s value.
- When it arrives.
- Its value — Grows with prices or A fixed amount.
Illustrative figures — not anybody’s real plan.
Grows with prices, or fixed?
Grows with prices rises at general inflation until it arrives — right for something whose value moves with the economy, such as a share of a property. A fixed amount stays the same number — right for a sum set in a contract, such as a policy’s maturity value.
Counting things once
- A gratuity already entered as a scheme balance under Investments belongs here only if it is not counted there.
- A property listed under Investments is sold with its own Sell it? choice, not here.
- Shares you hold now and plan to sell are already in your savings; only enter a sale here for shares not counted anywhere under Investments.
See this in your own plan.
