How do I enter my cash and bank deposits?

Enter one figure for all your cash, or break it down by account: type, bank, rate, balance and as-of date. It counts toward your corpus, except money you mark as your emergency fund.

Under Investments, Cash savings & bank deposits holds money you could reach this week — current and savings accounts, and every deposit you hold. You can keep it as one figure, or list each account so the total can be checked against your statements. Nothing connects to your bank; you type what you hold.

One figure

A new plan starts with one box. Choose what it is from What is it? and enter its Value today. That is a complete answer.

Account by account

  1. Press Break this down by account. Your existing figure is kept — it moves into the first row of the table.
  2. Under Type, choose Savings account, Recurring deposit, Fixed or term deposit, Sweep-in deposit or Something else.
  3. Under Bank, pick Where is it? first, then start typing the bank. Anything not on the list can be typed and is kept.
  4. Enter the Rate, or press Use typical to take the middle of the range shown for that country and type of deposit.
  5. Enter the Balance and the date it is true as of.
  6. Tick Emergency fund if this money is set aside for emergencies.
  7. Press + Add a deposit for the next account.

Set aside for emergencies: ₹5.4L — held on the Freedom Ladder’s Survival rung, outside the independence corpus.

The deposits table for the illustrative household, one row per account, with the emergency money beneath.

  • Type — the kind of deposit.
  • Bank — the country, then the bank.
  • Rate — typed, or Use typical.
  • Balance — and the date it is true as of.
  • What it is for — Emergency fund, or Saved for something specific.

Illustrative figures — not anybody’s real plan.

What each column changes

  • Balance counts toward your corpus, converted into your plan’s currency if the account is in another one.
  • Emergency fund takes that balance out of the independence corpus and puts it on the Freedom Ladder’s Survival rung.
  • Saved for something specific is a label only. The app says so: Noted for you — this does not change your projection yet.
  • Rate is recorded with the account. The projection grows your savings at the plan’s investment return, not at each account’s rate.
