How do I create an account?

On the sign-in page, press Continue with Google, or choose Create account and give your name, email and a password. An email account confirms its address first.

Open the sign-in page and choose one of two ways in: Continue with Google, or an email address and a password. Both give you the same kind of account, and your plan is saved to it — so it is there tomorrow, on whatever device you pick it up on.

With Google

  1. Press Continue with Google.
  2. Choose your Google account. Nivritee asks Google for your name and email address and nothing else.
  3. You come back signed in. Google has already confirmed your address, so there is no email to wait for.

With an email address and password

  1. Choose the Create account tab.
  2. Fill in Your name and Email. Temporary or disposable inboxes cannot be used.
  3. Fill in Choose a password, and the same again in Type it again. A checklist under the box shows which rules are met.
  4. Press Create my account. The next screen says Check your inbox.
  5. Open the link in the email. If you are asked, sign in with the password you just chose and press Sign in and confirm.
  6. You will see Your email is confirmed, and it takes you to your plan on its own a moment later — or press Go to my plan.

What a password needs

  • At least 10 characters.
  • A lower-case letter, an upper-case letter, a number, and a symbol such as ! ? # or @.
  • Nothing personal: not your name, your email address or the word Nivritee.
  • Not a common password, and not one that has appeared in a known data breach. That check sends only the first five characters of a one-way hash of the password, so it cannot reveal what the password is.

One account, two ways in

Google and an email password for the same address reach the same account. If you signed up with Google and would like a password too, use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page: the link adds a password to the same account.

If you try to create an account with an address that already has one, the screen looks exactly the same. The email that arrives says the account already exists (or is not finished) and gives the owner of that inbox a link to set a password; signing up again never changes the existing password. Nivritee never says on screen whether an address has an account, which keeps that fact private.

What happens next

A new account opens on a short welcome screen. Press Start my plan and you are on the quick start: eight answers to a first projection.
