Getting started

Your account, the two-minute quick start, finding your way around, and what Nivritee does and does not do.

22 questions

  1. What is Nivritee, and who is it for?A self-serve financial independence planner. It projects what your household earns, owns, owes and spends, year by year, and says plainly whether it holds.
  2. Is Nivritee free?Yes. The projection, the tracker, the stress tests, the index, the Freedom Ladder, Investment Performance and Niv are all included. There is no paid tier.
  3. How do I create an account? On the sign-in page, press Continue with Google, or choose Create account and give your name, email and a password. An email account confirms its address first.
  4. Why do I need to verify my email address? It proves the account belongs to whoever controls the inbox. Until you confirm it, an email-and-password account cannot open a plan. Links last three days.
  5. How does the quick start work?A country and seven figures — three ages and four amounts — are enough for a complete first projection. Press Show me my plan and the Overview opens on the result.
  6. What should I do after my first plan appears?Read the verdict and the four numbers under it, then make the plan more accurate: the card “How complete this plan is” lists what to add, most useful first.
  7. How is the app laid out?A menu down the left in three groups — your results, your data, and people — a bar across the top, the page in the middle, and Niv on the right.
  8. When do I need to re-generate my plan? When you have changed a figure the projection reads. A banner then says the figures are out of date; renaming a row or a price moving never does.
  9. How does saving work, and what does "Not saved" mean?Every change saves to your account automatically, within about a second. "Not saved" means a save failed; Nivritee retries on its own, and Try again sends it at once.
  10. What are the You, Partner and Family views? One plan holds a couple. You shows your own money and your share of anything shared; your partner’s view shows theirs; Family puts the two together, read-only.
  11. Which countries and currencies does Nivritee support? You can settle in any of 11 places, each with its own rates and currency. You can live today, and hold money, almost anywhere: rows accept 142 currencies.
  12. Can I earn in one country and settle in another?Yes. Say where you earn and spend today, where you will settle, and when you move. Each row keeps its own country, dates and currency, and converts once.
  13. How do I take a page’s tour again?Open your account menu at the top right and choose Take the tour of this page. It works on any page that has a tour, however you ended it before.
  14. Can anyone at Nivritee see my plan? No. There is no screen inside Nivritee that shows a person’s plan, holdings or conversation with Niv, because one was never built. Only people you invite can see it.
  15. Do I need to connect my bank or broker? No — you cannot. There is no account linking, no broker login and no statement upload. You type what you hold once, and listed holdings are priced automatically.
  16. What does Nivritee not model?Tax, state pension rules, health premiums that rise with age, long-term care, market randomness, limits on moving money, and property outpacing inflation — each with a workaround.
  17. Is Nivritee financial advice? No. It is an informational planning tool. It projects your own figures under stated assumptions and explains them; it never tells you what to buy or sell.
  18. Why does Nivritee ask for so much detail?Because different costs rise at different rates. Detail lets health, school fees and everyday spending each inflate at their own pace — but nothing beyond eight answers is required.
  19. How accurate is my plan?As accurate as its inputs and assumptions. Plan confidence shows how much rests on your own figures; the stress tests show how much the answer moves when things go wrong.
  20. Can I use Nivritee on my phone?Yes, in your phone’s browser — there is no app to install. The same plan opens on every device, and the layout adapts to a small screen.
  21. What does financial independence mean in Nivritee?Having enough that your savings, plus any income that keeps paying, cover what you spend to the end of your plan — without needing to work. Nivritee measures it two ways.
  22. Why does everything say "projected"?Because every figure about the future is an estimate under stated assumptions, not a prediction. The word is a reminder that the answer moves when the assumptions do.
