When do I need to re-generate my plan?
When you have changed a figure the projection reads. A banner then says the figures are out of date; renaming a row or a price moving never does.
Re-generate after you finish a round of changes to figures the projection depends on — a balance, a rate, an age, a cost, a date. Your edits are saved as you type either way; re-generating is how you tell Nivritee the plan is ready to be read again. The app tells you when it is needed, so you do not have to remember.
How you can tell
- Beside the heading of the Overview and of each section you fill in, one slot answers the question. It reads Plan is up to date. when nothing needs doing, and offers Re-generate my plan when something does.
- While the plan is out of date, a banner on every page says These figures are out of date. with its own button, Re-generate plan now.
- A small dot appears beside Overview in the menu — and on a phone, on the menu button itself. A screen reader announces it as “Out of date”.

What makes a plan out of date
Only a change to something the projection actually reads. Nivritee compares a fingerprint of those inputs with the one taken when you last generated, so these do not make a plan out of date:
- Renaming a row, or typing a child’s or partner’s name.
- Typing a figure and then typing it back.
- Reordering rows.
- A market price or an exchange rate moving. Listed holdings are valued afresh each time the plan is computed, so they never need a re-generate.
What re-generating does
It records the plan as current against what you have entered, takes you to the Overview, and brings the stored readings — such as the financial freedom index and the levers under What would move this — up to date if they were worked out before it.
See this in your own plan.
