Why does Nivritee ask me questions under "Tell us more"?

Each question tunes the typical ranges your figures are compared against — your city, your home, household help, your lifestyle. One at a time, and Not now costs nothing.

The Tell us more lane on the Action Items page asks one short question at a time about your circumstances. The answers do not change any figure in your plan. They change what your figures are compared against, so that a flag like "well above what is typical" is measured against households like yours rather than a national average.

The questions, in the order they come

QuestionWhat the answer changes
"Metro, smaller city, or in between?"Which city tier your costs are compared against. Asked first, because it sharpens every comparison.
"Do you own where you live, or rent?"Whether your plan should be carrying an owner's costs (tax, maintenance, repairs) or a renter's.
"Does your household employ anyone?"Whether help, a driver, a cook, childcare or elder care should be priced. These are wages, which tend to rise faster than general prices.
"Which of these sounds most like your life?"Six plain descriptions of discretionary spending, used to scale lifestyle ranges to you.
"What kind of place will you settle in?"The city tier where you will live once you move. Asked only if your plan moves you to another country.

You answer by picking a description, never by typing a number — most people recognise a description of their own life far more reliably than they can estimate a figure. The household help question lets you pick several; if none apply, the button reads None of these, and that counts as an answer.

Not now

Every question has a Not now button. Pressing it puts that question away and lets the next one through. It costs nothing: questions are left out of your Plan health entirely, so neither answering nor skipping moves that band.

Only one question shows in the Tell us more lane at a time, and each one is asked once. A question that cannot apply to you is never asked — a plan that settles in the country it already lives in is not asked about the place it will settle in, and the lifestyle question waits until your plan has some spending in it.

See this in your own plan.
