What happens when two people edit the plan at once?

Both sets of changes are kept. Only when you both changed the same figure to different values are you asked to choose: Keep mine or Keep theirs.

When you and your partner — or you on two devices — edit the plan at the same time, Nivritee merges the changes rather than letting the later save overwrite the earlier one. Most of the time you will not notice anything happened.

How the merge works

  • A figure only one of you changed takes that person's value.
  • A figure you both changed to the same value is not a conflict.
  • Rows either of you added are kept; rows either of you removed go — unless the other person edited that row in the meantime, which you are asked about.
  • A row you both edited merges field by field.
  • Only a real overlap — both of you changed the same field of the same row to different values — needs a decision.

When you are asked to choose

A notice appears: "This plan changed while you were editing, and some of the same figures were changed. Every other change, yours and theirs, is kept. For these, which should stay?" It lists each figure by name, such as "Living expenses › Rent in Dubai › amount".

  1. Read the list. Everything not on it is already kept.
  2. Press Keep mine to keep your values for the listed figures, or Keep theirs to keep the other person's.
  3. Saving resumes. It pauses until you choose, so nothing is written over in the meantime.

If the plan cannot be merged

If a page has been open long enough that the version it started from is no longer kept, the latest plan is loaded instead: "This plan changed on another tab or device, so we loaded the latest version. The edits below were not saved here — please make them again." Under Your unsaved edits it lists what you had changed, by name, so nothing disappears silently.

The same listing appears if you edit a row on your partner's side after they set it to View only: the change is refused, the latest plan is loaded, and your edits are listed.
