How do I choose which notifications I get?
Notification settings has two switches for each kind of notification — in the app and by email — plus how big a market move is worth an alert, your time zone and a 30-day email pause.
Open Notification settings from the account menu, from the gear in the bell, or from Manage notifications at the foot of any update email.
- Two switches per row — In the app, and Email. A row with both off sends nothing at all. A dash means that channel is not offered for it.
- Market alerts — choose Sensitive, Balanced or Conservative: how big a move in what you hold is worth an alert.
- Your time zone — the weekly summary and the month-start check-in arrive by your local time. It follows your browser until you choose one.
- Pause email — stops every email above for 30 days; everything still arrives in the bell.
Invitations, approvals and security emails are always on: they keep your account safe and tell you when somebody is waiting on you.
What each switch does
Switching off Email for a type stops that type reaching your inbox and nothing else — it still arrives in the bell unless you switch off In the app too. The unsubscribe link at the foot of an update email does the same thing for that one type, and the page it opens offers Undo. Each change saves as you make it; if one cannot be saved, the page says so and the switch goes back, so you are never left believing something is off when it is not.
