How do I change my name or picture?

Change your name under Display name in Your profile. Your picture comes from your Google account, or your initials if there is none — it cannot be uploaded.

Your name is set in Your profile. It is what Niv calls you and what appears on your account in the app, and you can change it whenever you like.

Changing your name

  1. Press your picture or initials in the top-right corner of the app to open the account menu.
  2. Choose Your profile. A panel slides in from the right.
  3. Edit the Display name box.
  4. Press Save changes. It says "Saved." when done.

A name you choose here is kept: signing in again with Google does not put the name from your Google account back. A name cannot be empty.

The app bar. Your picture, or your initials, sits at the far right and opens the account menu.

  • Your picture — press it, then choose Your profile.

Illustrative figures — not anybody’s real plan.

Your picture

There is no picture setting. If you sign in with Google and your Google account has a photo, that photo is shown, and the profile says "Your picture comes from your Google account." Otherwise you see up to two initials, taken from your name, and it says "There is no picture on this account, so we show your initials."

  • To show a different photo, change it on your Google account.
  • Nothing is uploaded to Nivritee and no image is stored. The Google photo is read by your browser and never reaches our server.
  • If Google's photo fails to load, your initials are shown instead.

Your email address

Your email is shown in the profile but cannot be edited there. It is how your plan is found, and every way of signing in uses it. To use a different address, sign out and sign in with that account.

Your partner's name on the plan

The name that labels your partner's view and their rows is a different thing from your account name. It is their First name in the Your family card under You & your assumptions, or under Edit on their row in the People table in Family & sharing.
